In August 2007 8 students of the Secondary College for Mechanical Engineering
Vöcklabruck had the possibility of taking a traineeship abroad. Therefore we
worked at Volvo Cars in Gothenburg for 5 weeks.
Departments, where the practicants were employed
Tooling & Equipment Assembling (Stefan Reiter, Stefan Reich, Stefan Sametinger):
Our task was the recording of disturbances in the factory via data bank recalls,
discovering problems and finding appropriate solutions.
Those were presented to the executives of the office at the end of the
traineeship.
Body Shop (Simone Steiner, Martin Schurm)
We had the order to create an Excel document which is able to provide a preview
of the production after the input of several data.
Afterwards we had to develop a suggestion how to integrate this document into the
factory`s compute system.
Therefore we created a Powerpoint- presentation for a feasible realisation.
Special Vehicles & Service (Harald Reiter)
|
I helped to mount special equipment for the sporty version of the SUV XC90.
I mounted sideskirts, DVD-players and tested their function. Moreover
I worked on the exteriour design of police cars and parked the finished cars.

Paintshop (Christoph Ahamer, Markus Berger)
Our workplace was situated at the primer line of the paintshop. Our task was
to measure and record the thickness of the paint on several positions all over
the car. In the second part of our traineeship we worked on the establishment
and improvement of a new measuring method which is more automatised.
Living
Our appartment hotel was situated close to the city centre. That`s why we had
very good public transport connections to all directions and lots of
possibilities for spare time activities.
Spare time activities:
- Visit of the biggest fun fair of Scandinavia (Liseberg)
- Sight seeing tours
- Visit of the opera (Goethe`s Faust)
football match USA vs. Sweden in Ullevi-Stadium/Gothenburg
- museums
